Located only 80kms. south of Merida, Uxmal is a truly spectacular example of classic Maya architecture.
Here the Maya expressed their beliefs in the temple's designs. The temple of the Diviner, which according to legend was built by Dwarf King,
is amongst the most striking , as is the Nuns quadrangle which perfectly illustrates the splendor of the Puuc style in its flat walls and decorated friezes.
The Governor's palace features over 20,000 stones in an exquisite mosaic on its exterior walls and is considered to be one of the most beautiful Mayan buildings.

Another Puuc site, Kabah features two main temples, the "Codz Pop" (meaning rolled carpet in Maya) is considered to have been the temple of the Ain God.
Here experts found seven sculptures of Maya leaders facing east as if waiting for the sun to rise and give life to the planet and humanity,
the other main construction is the palace which is also an example of early classic architecture (300 AD - 600 AD).
