Tlacotalpan is a colonial style town situated 82 km from the Port of Veracruz City by the federal highway 180 in the State of Veracruz, Mexico.

Tlacotalpan is located on the banks of the Papaloapan River.

Among Tlacotalpan main attractions are:

  • The Zaragoza Park with its Moorish kiosk (XIX century)

  • The Municipal Market, where you can purchase a great variety of objects from the region

  • The Hidalgo Park

  • The Tobias Carbajal Rivera Bar and Museum, where personal objects of Agustin Lara are exhibited

  • The Culture House, where the local residents learn how to make crafts of Veracruz

  • The Salvador Fernando Museum, with interesting pictures of important people of the area and also showing ladies in regional dresses

Agustin Lara, a famous musician and poet was born in Tlacotalpan.

The main festivity of Tlacotalpan is the Candelaria Feast, which is celebrated from January 31st to February 10th.
