50 km away from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Panuco was a prehispanic settle where, according to the legend, Toltec's crossed the rives to get to the antiplane. At the river’s shore, the city conquered by Hernan Cortes in 1522, was the commerce basis of the huastec region. Actually the principal economic activities are the agriculture, animal husbandry and fishing.
The House of Culture exhibits many archeological pieces rescued in the zone and a photography collection that show the city development along the XX century. The tour by the “Malecon Agustin Lara” (in honor of the Mexican composer ), the music tune of the huapangueros trios, the hospitality of the population is the perfect complement for the tour in one of the most oldest cities in Mexico..
