Sonora State is located in the northwest region of the Mexican Republic, and with its 182,052 km2 is the second State in territorial extension of Mexico.
Within the jurisdiction of the State of Sonora are also important islands as those of Tiburon (Shark), Pelicano (Pelican) and San Esteban. Its political division compose it 565 municipalities with a population of approximately 2'216,969 inhabitants.
The State of Sonora is located between 27° 18' and 32° 29' of north latitude and 108° 14' of length west and limits to the northwest with the State of Baja California, to the north with USA, to the east with the State of Chihuahua, to the south with the State of Sinaloa and to the west with the California Gulf.
The State of Sonora has beautiful beaches that are extended throughout 900 km., some of they virgin, other that they offer to the facilities visitor to practice aquatic sports, as diving, fishing, sail, etc. Furthermore, the dammings of the rivers, offer also opportunity to fish. In the north, the climate is tempered and semi dry, with mean temperature of 19� C., in the plains and of 14� in the saw. Toward the low part of the state, the climate varies between temperate and warm and the temperature oscillates between 20� C to 14� C., depending on the region.
