Ciudad Obregon

Ciudad Obregon is located 127 km to the southeast of Guaymas via federal highway 15 in the State of Sonora, Mexico.

Among Ciudad Obregon main attractions are:

• A bronze statue of a Yaqui Indian performing the Dance of the Deer

• The Naimari Lagoon, which has restaurants, picnic areas, and boats that you can rent for practicing water skiing

• The San Jose Beach, which has a Spa

Fifteen kilometers to the south of Ciudad Obregon on the highway to Bacum is situated the Rio Escondido (the Hidden River).

Ciudad Obregon is surrounded by important Yaqui settlements, such as:

• Torim, which was founded in the XVII century by Jesuits (you can arrive to this place driving along the federal highway 15 and taking the detour at km 41)

• Vicam, where the residents celebrate the Holy Week and the San Juan Festival on June 24th; during this feasts you can see the authentic Dance of:

  • The Deer

  • Los Matachines

  • El Coyote

  • Los Pascolas
