The Gruta de la Catedral (grotto) is located 118 km from San Luis Potosi City by the federal highway 70 in the State of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The Gruta de la Catedral (Grotto of the Cathedral) is situated on the Sierra Gorda, which is a mountain range between the State of San Luis Potosi and the State of Queretaro. It was given the name of the Cathedral because the stalagtites and stalagmites have formed a veritable cathedral in its interior with a pulpit, a choir and some beaches. Seven hundred meters from The Gruta de la Catedral (Grotto of the Cathedral), you can visit the Gruta del Angel (Grotto of the Angel) which was discovered recently, and receives this name because the stalagtites and stalagmites have formed a figure in the shape of an angel.
