Tequisquiapan

.Tequisquiapan is located in the State of Queretaro 188 km from Mexico City by the federal highways 57D and 120 in Mexico.

Tequisquiapan is another tile of the beautiful Queretaro's mosaic. The town keeps it colonial image, with narrow streets leading into small, and sunny squares. The principal attraction are the famous natural thermal water spas which have made of Tequisquiapan a first order tourism center. There are also some nearby mines of semiprecious stones, such as opal.

You shall not miss the tour by trolley; a guided visit through the main sites, monuments, legends and most important issues of this town. There's no doubt that the tour in a Panoramic trolley will be a greater experience, traveling through the town in a lovely two story trolley.

Tequisquiapan's main attractions are:

• The Parish of Santa Maria, built in the XIX century

• The Plaza Civica (the main square)

• The Portals and a  Historic bridge of rubble stone constructed in the XVII century over the San Juan del Rio.

Tequisquiapan is characterized because of its production of excellent wines. In this town you can purchase beautiful handicrafts such as cane, wicker and rattan baskets and jewelry with semi-precious stones.

The main fairs and feasts celebrated in Tequisquiapan:

• "Feria del Toro de Lidia" ( Bullfight Fair) takes place in March: Bullfights, flemish dances and bull related
  art exhibitions.

• "Feria del Queso y del Vino" (Cheese and Wine Fair) celebrated in May: Wine and cheese producers present exhibitions and conferences, as well as handicrafts, gastronomy and cultural events typical of the region.

• Day of the Assumption is celebrated on August 15th.

• National Holidays on September 15th & 16th.
