.Huimilpan is a pretty little village of simple houses. It is located 21 miles south of Queretaro. It has a moderate to subhumid climate, and at 7411 ft above sea level, an average temperature of 60° F.

Tourist attraction:

• Templo de San Miguel, One of the most important architectural structures in Huimilpan is this 17th Century church, located in the
  municipal hall

• Local Archeological Museum, Regional archeological pieces are displayed in this museum, located in town of San Pedro.

• Mundo Cimacuatico Park, This ecological reserve on recreational park offers a beautiful natural area for family picnics and outdoor recreational activities. You can enjoy fishing for bass, go out on a rout boat, or simply photograph wildlife on natural scenery.

• Municipal Fair, Huimilpan's municipal fair is held in September, with tradition, color and fun for the entire family

• Saint Michael The Archangel Fair, September continues to be a festive month with the celebration of Saint Michael the Archangel, the patron of this town.

Alternative Tourism:

• Camping in the George of the Cave, This woods-surrounded gorge located in the community of La Joya makes and ideal site for camping.

• Insurgentes Dam, This fishing site located in the community of San Pedro.

• Almost Inertia, A rare natural phenomena occurs in the Queretaro. Maybe a magnetic field, maybe the gods, whatever the reason, a car passing this stretch of highway will slow down, or have to accelerate more to stay at the same speed, as if it were climbing a hill.

This town's specialty is cantera, or hand-carved quarry stone, made into beautiful fountains, tables, fireplaces, planters and sculptures. Favorite food in Huimilpan includes roasted pork sandwiches, beef chicharron, barbecued goat, pork tamales and mole.
