Coatlan del Rio

During the pre-Hispanic era, the town of
Coatlan del Rio in the State of Morelos, Mexico was part of the religious and
political center of Xochicalco.
Later in the contemporary period,
Coatlan
del Rio belonged to the domain of
Cuernavaca
while at the same time being tributary to the Aztecs.
In the sixteenth
century, its church was a fixed Vicar of Mazatepec and by the end of the
nineteenth century, it became a parish having San Gaspar, as its
patron saint;
Today, it continues to operate as a parish which is known as "Santos Reyes" or Holy Kings
