Grutas de Juxtlahuaca
 

The Grutas de Juxtlahuaca ( grottos ), are located 42 km (26 mi) from Chilpancingo in the State of Guerrero by the state highway of Mexico.

The entrance to the Grutas de Juxtlahuaca ( grottos ), is set off by two huge "cocoxochitl" trees.

The Grutas de Juxtlahuaca ( grottos ) have 19 caves with stalactite and stalagmite formations such as:

  • Los Idolos Rotos (the broken idols)

  • Las Cataratas (the waterfalls)

  • Las Cupulas (the domes)

  • Las Catacumbas (the catacombs)

This underground sanctuary has several rupestrian paintings representing a jaguar, a serpent and a human figure among others.

The Grutas de Juxtlahuaca ( grottos ) is an interesting place in which in its surroundings is El Rio Azul (the blue river). This river forms waterfalls, water funnels and spectacular springs.
