During the colonial era,
Acapulco was the only seaport authorized in Mexico for trading with the Eastern Continent
through the legendary Nao of China or Galleon of Manila. Was Diego Fernandez de Cordoba
who commissioned to the engineer Dutch Adrian Boot to accomplish the project of a
fortification that is characterized for its form of irregular polygon called "Fort of
San Diego".
