Durango
City is the Capital of the
State of Durango,
Mexico; is located in the Guadiana Valley, in the southern central area of
the state. You can arrive by the federal
highway 45.
In Durango city you can visit:
- The
baroque-style Cathedral,
built in the XVIII
century
- The
Government Palace,
a civil construction
of the XVII century, with its
excellent paintings
- The
Guadalupe Sanctuary,
built in the XVIII century
- The
Victoria Theater,
a cultural and
contemporary theater forum
- The
Juarez University Main Building,
built in the XVII century
- The
railway station,
which is a real architectonic treasure
- The
neoclassic-style Municipal Palace
built in the XIX
century
- The
House of the Count of Suchil,
built in the XVII
century which, has a beautiful churrigueresque portal
- The
Guadiana Park with its vast groves,
an artificial lake,
games for children and a swimming pool
- The
Sahuatoba Park,
which possesses a zoo and an acoustic
area for
open-air concerts
Another attraction in
Durango:
- Cerro
del Mercado,
made up of iron
mineral and stones.
Around the city of
Durango you will find wonderful Spas and other attractive such as:
- El
Saltito,
a waterfall 44 km. on the road to
Fresnillo
- La Presa
de Guadalupe Victoria
8 km. to the south
- La Presa
Peña
23 km. to the north,
where you can fish and practice aquatic sports
Durango has been
selected by the cowboy films producers.
