Many
municipalities such as this one have much to offer. It is only a matter of
stepping inside to realize everything that we can find there. In the
municipality seat, located 65 kilometers 140 miles) to the southeast of
Sabinas, we can visit the House of Culture with its fossils and antique
photos. The Sacred Heart Festival and the Nut Fair are the best examples of
its folklore. Its inhabitants earn their livelihood through agriculture,
fishing, and livestock and are excellent at making squash sweets and those
made of goat milk, If you wish to sample the best, try the fillet, ceviche
(seafood cocktail), and fish broth. However, without a doubt its largest
attraction is the Venustiano Carranza dam, better known as Don Martin
because of its location next to the town with the same name. With a 1.32
billion cubic meter capacity, the Sabinas River supplies its waters. Besides
being the main economic source for many of the locals it is the stage for
sports tournaments over the course of the year.
