Francisco I. Madero

Francisco I. Madero - Sagrado Corazon TempleWhen you visit this town, you will immediately note the gentle and relaxed feeling that is present here. You will feel the nostalgia and yearning for days gone by, a railroad that drove its economy and the abundance of jobs that was represented by the Anderson Clayton factory, of which, only the remains are left. Its inhabitants have evolved with these sentiments.

They work hard because it will soon be time to party; the streets will be alive with joy, color and music; those who have left, will return, and everyone will dance together in order to say: This is Madero!

Among Francisco I. Madero main attractions are:

  • Sagrado Corazon Temple, After being located in the town of El Porvenir for 48 years and in response to the growth experienced during the railroad boom, the parish headquarters was moved here 61 years ago.

  • Acatita Dunes, The Acatita Dunes cover and area that is over 12 km (7.4 miles) long by 2.5km (1.6 miles) wide. While visiting these fine and sensuous sand formations, which are golden touches of nature, it is an ideal time for some self-reflection. Recommendation, To tour this area, we suggest hiring a guide, which can be found in Ejido Lindavista at a reasonable rate. Click Here

  • Zone of Silence, As part of the Bolson de Mapimi Biosphere Reserve the Zone of silence is located in an area called “Vertice Trino” where the states of Coahuila, Durango and Chihuahua come together. Here, a region is found that is isolated, in every sense, from the rest of the territory. Endowed with a powerful magnetic energy force, it is said that radio waves cannot penetrate the area and that it attracts celestial elements such as meteorites. This region is considered atypical because of its peculiar biological environment. Certain types of turtles and reptiles that are unique in the world, numerous cacti and thickets such as the endogenous purple nopal and the Creosote bush are all among the species that have evolved to adapt themselves to the conditions of the region. In the daytime, with the intense radiation from the sun, or at night, with the clear spectacle of the star-filled sky, the Zone of Silence is an indescribable experience for the senses that should not be missed during your visit to Coahuila. It is said that, in this zone, compasses and radios stop working. It will be interesting to test it out. Click Here
