The state of
Aguascalientes
lies between 1,800 m (5,905 ft) and 1,987 m (6,519 ft) above sea level. It
is located on the western side of the Mexican highlands between 21° 23' and
the 22° 28' north latitude and 101° 53' and 102° 50' west longitude.
The
State of Aguascalientes is bounded on the north, east, and west by the
State of Zacatecas and on the south by the State of Jalisco.
The State of Aguascalientes is one
of the smallest states in Mexico, having an area of 5,589 square km. (2,157 sq mi.), which
represents only 0.28% of Mexicos territory and a population of approximately 944,285 inhabitants.
In general terms, the climate in the state of
Aguascalientes is of semidry condition with annual average
temperature, of 17.4 C and an average rainfall of 526 mm the rain season
of the year the registered rain are of low intensity there is a region in
the southeast situated in a great part of the sierra “El Laurel”
municipality of Calvillo, that has warm climate, and for having a so short
extension if is not forth considering it.
It is also known dry
steppe it is characterized due that in this part the evaporation is higher
than the precipitation and it is associated mainly to vegetative
communities of the type desert thicket and xenophile vegetation.
